Subscription Price for 2006 Rights Offering

Boston, MA, September 25, 2006 -- H&Q Life Sciences Investors (NYSE: HQL) (the "Fund") announced that the subscription price per share in its one for three non transferable rights offering (the "Offer") is $12.82. The subscription period for the Offer ended at 5 p.m., Eastern Time on September 21, 2006. The subscription price per share was determined as of September 22, 2006 (the "Pricing Date") and is equal to 95% of the volume weighted average share price of a share of the Fund on the New York Stock Exchange on the Pricing Date and the four preceding business days. For subscriptions made with a guaranteed delivery of payment, the deadline for payment of the final subscription price is September 26, 2006. The Fund expects to issue shares in respect of fully paid subscriptions on or about October 6, 2006.
