Don Cassidy is the Founder and President of The Retirement Investing Institute, whose mission is to educate adult investors without any product-sales agenda. Formerly, he was senior research analyst and media spokesperson with Lipper, where he started in 1990. During his first years at Lipper, Cassidy directly supervised the firm’s closed-end funds research group and he maintained a significant role in that area, including writing, media-contact and consulting assignments. He came to Lipper after serving regional retail brokerage firm Boettcher & Co., starting in 1986 as a sell-side analyst. He was also employed early in his career with the Fidelity funds organization. Cassidy has written five books for individual investors, the latest of which is Trading on Volume (November 2001). Previous popular titles include When the Dow Breaks (1999) and It’s When You Sell that Counts! (3rd edition, 2008). Cassidy has twice served on the faculty of Harvard University’s Annual Congress on the Psychology of Investing, is a member of the CFA Society of Colorado, has been on the CFA Institute’s international speaker list since 2003 and gives guest lectures at several local colleges in Colorado. He serves as an adviser to the Finance Club and to the Finance Faculty at Metropolitan State College of Denver and is a graduate of the Wharton School.
