President's Corner
Introducing CEFA's New President

Tom Dinsmore
Portfolio Manager
Bancroft Fund Ltd, Ellsworth Fund Ltd. President, Closed-End Fund Association

Welcome to the new Closed-End Fund Association website. Created by SySys, an associate member of CEFA, the site includes data on individual funds from Reuters’ Lipper division and adds many improvements suggested by users. The purpose of this site is to give investors a reliable source of objective data on closed-end funds. We hope you will give it a complete test.

As the Portfolio Manager of Bancroft Fund Ltd. (BCV) and Ellsworth Fund Ltd. (ECF) I am pleased to be the new President of the Closed-End Fund Association. It is my good fortune to come to this position following Doug Ober who has guided the building of this organization for the last four years. Under his leadership the Association developed the Closed-End Forum, upgraded its website, developed a new booklet on the advantages of closed-end funds and has been an advocate for the industry on important issues.

It is my intention to build on this legacy by continuing to have the Association be a reliable source of objective information on closed-end funds through its website and Forums. To this end we have consistently looked to third-party analysts and investment professionals as well as to fund insiders for reports and information. Additionally, I will be seeking input from investors on ways in which we can improve our efforts.

In the President’s Corner I expect to write about issues that affect the industry and to answer questions from investors. There will also be guest writers on occasion. I hope to hear from all with relevant comments regarding the website, the Association or on Closed-End Funds in general so that we can improve communications on this vital and useful financial structure.
